Introduction
Dear colleagues and friends, this year, on behalf of the Association,
I would like to invite you to our Annual Conference in Swansea.
This will be our first meeting in Wales and you are assured to
be in for a great treat!
I am pleased to say that we expect yet another excellent scientific
programme. Topics range from 'auditory basis of language disorders'
with a keynote from Prof Sophie Scott (UCL), to 'Memory research'
featuring a lecture by Dr Ed Wilding (Cardiff). Of special interest
will be a symposium and workshop on 'New Developments in EEG Source
Localisation', with representatives from major developers demonstrating
their latest software.
We would like to think that we provide a valuable scientific forum
on a small scale - intentionally in contradistinction to the mega-conferences
around the world. We are not a 'members only' club, quite the contrary;
we welcome national and international visitors and especially new
members. We particularly encourage scientists at the beginning
of their careers to come and present their research in a friendly
and supportive atmosphere. This year we will provide an even larger
number of student bursaries: six in total, which will include £150
and free conference registration. You can read the reports from
last years' winners describing their experiences in Dundee in this
newsletter.
For those of you who are keen to extend their summer holiday,
the conference is located right next to the beach of Swansea Bay
- feel free to bring your surf boards!
Look forward to seeing you there,
Torsten.
Torsten Baldeweg,
Chairman BACN
PS: If you are a keen walker - come and join us a few days before
the conference on a walk along the beautiful south Pembrokeshire
coastal path. Contact me on (T.Baldeweg@ich.ucl.ac.uk) and I will
send you more details of the planned trip.
